Campervan Rental Company Thirves in RV Rental Niche

Mar 12, 2009 -- While many small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, Lost Campers USA, the San-Francisco-based adventure travel company offering cheap campervan rentals, is doubling its growth each year. By transforming easy-to-drive minivans into inexpensive campervans with the comfort of a double bed, Lost Campers has found a successful niche between rental cars and expensive RVS. Lost Campers' California campervans are perfect for those on a budget or seeking a travel experience closer to home.

Founded in 2007 by former Aussies Nick and Emma Thomson, Lost Campers first doubled, and then tripled their fleet in 2008. "Lost Campers has been so busy we've added a van a month to our fleet," comments Nick Thomson. Nick adds, "All that's limiting our bookings is inventory." Hugely popular in Europe and down under, campervans have been successful in the U.S. as well because of their ease to drive and small carbon footprint. And the price is hard to beat--renting a Lost Camper California campervan starts at $31/day and maxes out at $55/day during peak season. In response to growing customer demand, Lost Campers now offers travel to Canada and one-way rentals to Los Angeles.

Lost Campers' fleet of campervans are American mini-vans retrofitted with a platform bed and storage below, privacy curtains, and awning, and outfitted with linens, a cooler, stove, table, chairs and cookware. Requests from families and small groups led the company to add campervans that seat five people, utilizing the back seat as part of the bed. Sleeping bags, comforters, towels, bike and roof racks, heaters, GPS systems and dome tents can also be rented by those seeking to enrich their campervan for hire.

According to co-owner Emma Thomson, "Lost Campers' mission is to help people get lost in the natural world by offering more comfort and convenience than tent camping affords." Lost Campers is located at 2955 Third St., in San Francisco, close to public transportation including the T-Third light rail. Transportation to/from SFO is available.
