New Brunswick province, Red Pines Campground to get upgrade

The provincial government is hoping to bolster tourism across New Brunswick by investing in the middle of it.

Liberal MLA Rick Brewer announced Saturday that his government would give Red Pines Campground $200,000 for upgrades including a new water treatment system and comfort station.

Brewer said the investment will have a spin-off effect across the province.

"When you can invest in the heart of the province, and drive the tourism industry in that area, you are going to have people coming to the centre, and then make a decision which way they want to go to leave the area,'' Brewer said.

"Whichever way they choose, they are going to be visiting other tourism-related industries.''

The Red Pines Campground is located 40 minutes north of Fredericton. It's owned by the Central New Brunswick Woodmen's Museum, which takes up 15 acres of the park.
