Free Pet Injury Coverage and New Discounts Now Available to Progressive RV Customers
MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio--(03/04/2008)--Do you travel with your dog or cat when RVing? Is your pet not just a companion, but a member of your family? You’re not alone. Most of the 8 million RVers – according to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association – bring pets along on trips. If this includes you, new Pet Injury Coverage from Progressive is for you.
Today, RV insurance policies cover the people – but not the pets – inside RVs. Beginning March 31 in most states, Pet Injury Coverage, free with Collision and Comprehensive, pays up to $500 if a dog or cat is hurt or dies because of a crash, fire or flood.
“RVing is more fun when the entire family, including pets, comes along for the ride,” said Cathy Pelfrey, RV product manager, Progressive. “This coverage gives pet owners something no other RV insurer offers – peace of mind from knowing that their dogs and cats are protected, too.”
In September 2007, Progressive was the first to introduce pet injury protection to its car insurance customers.
Additional new RV insurance discounts and benefits available include:
- Original Owner Discount – 10 percent off Comprehensive and Collision if you’re the RV’s first registered owner
- Claim Free Renewal Discount – 5 percent off the overall premium if you don’t file a claim during the previous policy period
- Transfer Discount – 5 percent off the overall premium if you have more than six months of continuous RV coverage in the past year
- Small Claims Forgiveness – No rate increase for claims less than $500
